16 c. / 17 c. Alabaster Figure after the Virgin of Trapani

   A nice 16 or early 17 c. alabaster figure of the Virgin and Child after the famous Madonna of Trapani, in the Santuario dell'Annunziata in Trapani, Sicily,
   attributed to Nino Pisano (mid. 14 c.).

   The alabaster figure has a more timid contra-posto than the Madonna. The figure of the Christ is broken, as well as the Virgin's right arm.

   Material : Alabaster, traces of painting, metal crown
   Origin : Italy
   Provenance : French auction sale - said to be ex. Ludgwig collection Ratisbonne
   Date : 16 / 17 c.
